"Beatmaker" is the perfect description for what TOKiMONSTA – aka Jennifer Lee – does. This California-based producer/DJ, with limited tools, transformed her bedroom into a recording studio, from where she now crafts her sample-based, sun-drenched beats. On her episode of the web series "Sounds Like…," sponsored by Red Bull Music Academy and AKG, Jennifer… errr, TOKiMONSTA, is shown as a young and talented artist who has gained the attention of scene-setters like Flying Lotus and Mary Anne Hobbs, and we see and hear her collaboration with MNDR's Amanda Warner.

TOKiMONSTA's Bedtime Lullabies LP was first released on the Los Angeles/Japanese clothing company/record label Foreign Family, and since then she's dropped many more singles and Eps on labels like Ramp, All City, Listen Up, Brainfeeder and Ultra. Sampling the sounds of everything from early Motown 45s to Japan's Yellow Magic Orchestra, Jennifer's soulful electronic soundscapes go everywhere. She creates this musical odyssey from her home studio – with the help of AKG.

Jennifer's supported in her studio by AKG's C414 XLS multi pattern condenser microphone and a pair of K712 studio headphones. A legend since it was introduced in 1971, the C414 XLS is a truly versatile mic for recording both vocals and instruments in both the studio and on stage, producing beautifully detailed, honest recordings with its neutral representation. The nine selectable polar patterns are perfect for capturing sounds in any application, while three different switchable bass cut filters help reduce wind noise, subsonic artifacts and proximity effects. Best of all: all of theC414 XLS's controls are easy to switch off, making it a true multipurpose mic. For listening, mixing and mastering, TOKiMONSTA uses AKG's K712 studio headphones, whose over-ear design make them a comfortable wear for long work sessions. Made in Vienna, Austria, the K712's precise, powerful sound is bolstered by 3dB of improved low-end, while the carefully selected transducers contribute to consistency and accurate localization of any instrument or voice. The K712's revolutionary flat wire voice coil provides brilliant treble response. These headphones come with a professional mini XLR connector for quick replacement of the cable, an extra coiled cable, and premium carrying bag. With her AKG mics and headphones, TOKiMONSTA can record and hear the sounds she samples and produces just the way she lays them down.
